A delegation of China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Light Industrial Products and Arts-crafts headed by the president Mr. Wang Hanjiang visited Cyprus on April 14-15, 2009 at the invitation of Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
During the visit, accompanied by Counsellor Mr. Zhang Xinmin from the Economic and Commercial Office of Chinese Embassy in Cyprus, the delegation had a meeting with the president of Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Manthos Mavrommatis, Secretary-General Mr. Panayiotis.I. Loizides and Secretary-General of Cyprus-China Business Association Mr. Antis Nathanael. They introduced the basic situation of their Chamber respectively, exchanged views on establishing cooperation mechanism to propel and promote the collaboration between their member companies and the antidumping case against Chinese light industrial products such as leather shoes by European Union. Both sides reached a consensus that, acting as the bridge and link between government and enterprise, the Chambers will reinforce the communication and cooperation between each other, and zealously make suggestions and proposals to their governments on fighting against trade protectionism to safeguard companies’ rights and interests, striving for a further development of friendly and cooperative Sino-Cypriot relationship.
At the invitation of a Cypriot company, International Merchandising Center (IMC), the delegation also attended the presentation and demonstration of the online virtual exhibition named BusinessGlobal.com launched by IMC.
H. E. ambassador Mr. Zhao Yali from Chinese Embassy in Cyprus met with the delegation, and heard the debriefing.
